DELS \'Shapeshift\' Remixes Download EP Out Now (big dada)

Download 4-track EP on iTunes or Ninjashop now. Remixes come from Kwes, Ghostape and Eli-T.DELS has been creating a buzz ever since John Peel heard him as a teenager and put him on the radio - now he's ready to re-write the rules of rap in the UK in a way that hasn't happened for years. 'Shapeshift' is a perfect place to start. The beat is courtesy of long-time collaborator Joe Goddard, better known for his work as part of Hot Chip. Goddard hooks up some ultra-squelchy, off-kilter electronic madness (as well as dropping in to deliver a poker-faced middle 8). Over it, DELS does what he does best, in this case taking us back to a childhood in which his biggest dream was to be able to turn into something else. It's a proper recollection of childhood, its fears and well as its fun, not one of those fake lists of vintage products like Raleigh Grifters. DELS slams it out in a clear voice which shows the influence of Grime, while the cleverness of his punch lines and metaphors show he ain't kowtowing to any of the many cliches of the form.

Video Extras Needed for Bang On \'Hands High\' (big dada)

Calling all Liverpool based Big Dada and Ninja fans. One of the most exciting artists Big Dada has signed recently is the Liverpool born and bred Bang On. A born MC, Elliott Egerton's delivery effortlessly moves between funny and furious, as he spins yarns and nails metaphors that make rap sound like a good idea again. Combined with raw, bass-hefty production that could make a bleeding edge dubstepper weep, he's set to be a force to be reckoned with in the coming year. The video for his debut single, Hands High, is being shot in Liverpool this coming week on Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th August. The director is Goetz Werner, who shot Dizzee Rascal's 'Graftin' and 'Off To Work.' We need as many people as possible to appear as extras in the club (Tuesday) and street (Wednesday) based scenes. If you're interested, simply turn up to the shoots as follows:Tuesday 17th at 9.00pmThe MagnetHardman StreetLiverpoolL1 9ASWednesday 18th at 12.00pmOutside the Liver Buildings (Iconic, innit.)Your support will be rewarded with undying Dada love, and hopefully some television appearances. Of course, you'll also get to hear one of the most astonishing debut singles we've ever released.

Roots Manuva - \'Something Wicked\' Dub (big dada)

This week's Ninja Tune XX giveaway is a truly special, brand new creation from one of Big Dada's all time greats, Roots Manuva. Arguably the greatest hip-hop artist Britain has ever produced, Rodney Smith's strengths have always been his fearless individualism and astounding artistry. As one of several parts of his involvement with Ninja Tune's 20th anniversary, he recently crafted a dub of The Herbaliser's 'Something Wicked This Way Comes,' which, we think, is astonishingly good. Featuring infectious, eerie sonics, Manuva's inimitable swing and new, ruminative verses from the man himself, it's everything great about Roots boiled down to one song. Better yet, Big Dada founder and Manuva-mentor Will Ashon filmed the dub being made. The video is truly a treat, and shows Rodney having fun as he created the final dub. Roots Manuva is headlining the Ninja Tune XX party at London Ewer Street on 2nd October, as well as playing dates in Paris and Brussels. He has two new tracks on the compilations, and remixes of his work by Micachu, Modeselektor, Cut Chemist and Slugabed amongst others. His latest album, 'Duppy Writer,' a collaborative remix collection, is out on September 6th.NINJATUNEXX.NET

Vote for Roots Manuva to Win Steve Lamacq\'s Rebel Playlist (big dada)

Having played our part in saving 6Music (chaining ourselves to random railings, going on cake-strike for an hour etc etc) it's payback time. Only we kind of need you to do the paying back for us. The new Roots Manuva meets Wrongtom single, "Jah Warriors" (featuring the mellifluous tones of Ricky Ranking) is on Steve Lamacq's Rebel Playlist this week, which means if enough of us vote, "Jah Warriors" will be pumped out to the discerning masses every day for a week and all that good stuff. You see, we can make a difference! It's an exercise in democracy! Ooh, I'm getting tired even thinking about it. Maybe I'll just lie down here and eat a deep-fried Mars Bar...Stream the track and VOTE HERE!

FRIDAY: Big Dada vs Roots Manuva: Dub College (big dada)

After the success of Roots Manuva's 'Go Bananas!' night at The Book Club, the legendary UK bass-head is taking it to the next level with 'Dub College' at The Queen of Hoxton. Launching on July 23rd, this exploration of what Mr Manuva describes as "bass culture" will kick off with a meeting of artists from his longtime home, Big Dada, and his own label/gang, Banana Klan. Less a clash than a meeting of minds, the night will feature Big Dada artists old and new alongside the cream of the Banana Klan.Mixing it up over two floors will be Jammer, celebrating the release of his debut album, 'Jahmanji', the Illersapiens bringing their completely live take on the UK hip hop blueprint; Scots beat-blaster Offshore will be hammering out the Cale-Funk and Ahmos dropping sharp lyrics in a classic North West London flow; DELS will be showcasing some of the Joe Hot Chip-produced electronic hip hop which has already seen him described as a Roots Manuva for a new generation and Oliver Night, a sometime member of Roots' band, the Banana Skinz, will be focussing on his dubstep-influenced floorfillers. Meanwhile Ricky Ranking will be bringing the beauty and the pain in the South London soundsystem way he has made his own and Big Dada will round out their bill with their longest serving and newest MCs, Birmingham's legendary Juice Aleem and Liverpool's Bang On. Throw the BK DJs into the mix, add the presence of our genial host, Rooty-Toot Manuva, and you have an evening of the very finest entertainment.Book early, come in, expect bottom-end business.
