This is the debut 7" from Lotek HiFi - a lolloping, reggae-heavy groove that should work just right on the dancefloors, the airwaves and your front room...
Before now you might have heard the excellent "Fire" on the Big Dada compilation "Extra Yard," or you may have heard of the members of the group in other contexts.
Wayne Bennett (aka Lotek) is probably best known for his work with Roots Manuva on both "Brand New Second Hand" and "Run Come Save Me". Constantly developing as a producer and an MC, Bennett felt that after Roots’ extensive UK and European tour at the end of 2001, it was time to step out on his own and put a project together that reflected his interests and musical vision. To that end he recruited:
Earl J. Son of JA dancehall legend Jack Radics and a fiery chatter in his own rights, he takes first verse duties on "Ram Dancehall".
Wayne Paul. The street-soul legend from the mid-nineties Rhythm&Business days who made a triumphant return on Roots Manuva’s "Revolution 5".
Aurelius. Better known in drum & bass circles, it’s Aurelius who brings the vocal bass boom to the tune.
Together they are currently mixing down their album, "Mixed Blessings" . Expect off-key reggae hip hop wih a classical edge. a more rago Massive Attach or slowed down Specials. Whatever, expect something new.
