SUPER CONCEPTUAL COMBUSTIBLE MAGNIFICENCE
It its best, collaboration leads to new direction, different ways of moving forward. The latest release from Big Dada (described by iD as "a UK parallel to NYs Rawkus") is just such a record. Part 2 is the acclaimed producer who has made his reputation as the driving force behind New Flesh For Old (their first record for Big Dada was greeted by NME as "triumphant"). Juice Aleem is none other than Alpha Prhyme, the voice on Big Dadas very first release. And since his infamous appearance at Company Flows Jazz Caf* show in November, hes also known as Mussolini (don't ask why)
While Part 2 lays out the dark, dense and truly screwed beatscapes which are attracting acclaim and remix work worldwide, on "Nanotech Pilots" Juice Aleem takes his chance to establish himself as the lyricist to watch in 98. Complex, packed with metaphor and wordplay, his rhymes skip through his obsession with both the mutant illnesses developed by science and now attacking the human body and the mutant illnesses attacking the hip hop body.
On the brutal workout "The Triple Intruder", Juice and Part 2 are joined by Mad Flow, another member of Juice Aleems The
Eight Drunken Immortals crew,. Mad Flow broadens the range of the track with a hilarious verse as well as showing the depth of talent which is leading those in the know to point to British hip hop as the scene for a creative renaissance in 98.
Already causing a buzz amongst DJs both here and in America, "Nanotech Pilots" is set to take Big Dada one step higher and
emphasise yet again that original, creative hip hop has the power to provoke, move and excite as well as set your head
nodding.
