THROW AWAY YOUR PRECONCEPTIONS. ABANDON YOUR PREJUDICES.

Almost a year since the release of their debut album, ‘Equilibrium,’ the crew described as "clearly one of the UK’s greatest hip hop’s acts" (Melody Maker) are back – like you’ve never heard them before.

Following on from the critically-acclaimed BIG DADA SOUND posse cut, producer Part 2 further explores his discovery of the perfect beat. Bogle-step hip hop? "2-step-influenced ragga beatscape" (DJ)? Dancehall-jazz-hardcore? Whatever you want to call it, know that no one else is doing this – making hip hop that is effortlessly funky, catchy, danceable and yet still edgily brand new.

On lyrical duties we find the one-and-only Toastie Tailor, not only contributing the abstract-dancehall flows that have had him labelled "a sick Buju Banton with a chemistry set" (Sleaze Nation), but a rootsical chorus of surprising sweetness. He is joined by Juice Aleem and Robotic E.B.U. otherwise known as half of the group Gamma. (Gamma themselves have a single coming out later in the month and an album in October, which you’ll hear more of soon). All three MCs obviously relish the rhythmic complexity and bounce of the beat, spitting out lyrics like their lives depend on it…

If that isn’t enough for you, the flip finds top UK producer DJ SKITZ (who has worked with everyone over here from Rodney P to Skinnyman to Roots Manuva) taking ‘186000 Miles’ in a new direction. Intrigued by the deep reggae influence in the New Flesh sound, Skitz reformats the original as an epic
journey through West Indian music, Toastie’s vocal travelling across everything from rudebwoy spaghetti western to raw dub - all held together by Skitz’s trademark heavy bass and beat.

Since their last release, New Flesh have performed across the UK and Europe, winning support and appreciation for their energetic and humorous live shows and their commitment to the culture of hip hop: beats, rhymes and originality… Rated by everyone from Gift of Gab (of Blackalicious) to Plaid, the group are now ready to reap their long-awaited rewards. Sleep not…

DJ

"This far down the line you'd think room for innovation was all but taken up – until Part 2 waltzes past with his freaky beats which are truly like nothing else around… weird and funky. Scarily fresh"

IDJ

"No doubt many dance hacks will label Arcade Terra's brilliance with ridiculous jazz-jungle-step style titles; fuck that, this is hip hop in its purest innovative form"

KNOWLEDGE

"New Flesh lead the field in cerebral science – many artists are clearly lagging behind. Open those long closed portals in your mind and let them in"

JOCKEY SLUT

"This ruffneck recipe will please future-shockers…a treat for low riders"

JOCKEY SLUT

"Spearheading the underground sound of rogle (rap and bogle)"

HIP HOP CONNECTION

"Uptempo, almost club-friendly production laced with dancehall flows. Not what you would expect from the crew that brought you 'Equilibrium' so it comes as a breath of fresh air to the sometimes static underground scene"
