Roots Manuva returns with this limited run single to keep us going through the summer.
'Motion 5000' is a re-work of Mr Manuva's seminal 1995 debut, 'Next Type Of Motion'. With strings and the trademark Rootical drawl, it's an epic, one of the most well-received tracks from his brilliantly-received album, 'Brand New Second Hand'. In one of those unlikely collaborations, the string arrangement was contributed by speed garage legend MJ Cole, now signed to Talkin' Loud. Backing 'Motion...' is a new
number. 'Skiver's Guide' was produced by Taipanic (Blak Twang) and is a posse cut, featuring, in order, Roots Manuva himself, Taipanic, Seanie T (who featured on 'Big Tings Gwidarn'), Robotic E.B.U. and Juice Aleem (the latter two performing as Gamma). Blak Twang have long been part of the same crew as Roots. They wanted to collaborate for the album, but had to wait until now to get together.
