With their upcoming debut album just weeks away, Young Fathers share a new track with NME, the soundtrack to a dystopian carnival: "GET UP". Taken from the upcoming single released on 27 January - order your copy from Ninjashop / iTunes
The song charges along, reversing gravity, going up whilst somehow hurtling downwards, as if Michael Jackson is pulling it backwards into the darkness even as it appears to move into the light with a deathly moonwalk. It's 60s and 70s and all the decades up to now since R&B was rhythm and blues. A series of huge, wobbling bass notes, a synthesized Duane Eddy riff which dominates the instrumentation, as breathless vocals gather you in.
Young Fathers are on tour throughout the UK and Europe over the next few months, touching down at London's Electrowerkz, Berlin's Berghain and Amsterdam's Paradiso along the way. See the full run-down of events and where to buy tickets here.
