There's a certain something about Kail that we've been trying to get across to you, the listening public, for a while now, something to do with his having made a vintage record that's thoroughly modern, something about him having made the kind of record that made you fall in love with hip-hop in the first place, the kind of record that doesn't seem to get made any more, even by the best rappers. Whether we've got this across or not isn't for us to decide, but we think the latest piece on Okayplayer has pretty much nailed it.
'I haven’t been as impressed by a release from a Hip-Hop artist I wasn’t previously familiar with as I am of Kail’s True Hollywood Squares in a long time. It’s note-perfect Summer jump-off music and reminds me of the shit me and my friends were bumping during the Summer of ‘91 in a real way. Probably because it mashes the disparate elements of humor, high-concept, wit and street shit — that my favorite rappers of that era brought to the table into a totally new whole, that’s still compatible with the stuff that catches my ear today.'

The monstrous talent of LA's Kail is unleashed today, in the shape of his debut album 'True Hollywood Squares.' Pick up a copy from your local shop, or if you need more convincing, have a read of the press quotes below...
‘Funny, streetwise and defiantly non-PC, he’s anything but dull.’ - Q
'His combination of street cred and disarming wit has already seen him compared to Nas, Ice Cube and early Jay-Z.' - The Independent
'Infused with personality, wit and inventiveness.' - Echoes
'An acerbic-tongued tour of Tinseltown's underbelly, delivered with a lyrical verve that shows Kail is a wryly perceptive commentator. Plenty to love...' Metro

Our man Kail was in the Independent's round-up of ones to watch at the weekend, and it seems they've had a proper listen. He's what they had to say.
'All too often, hip-hop divides onto mindless gangsta braggadocio or lyrically intelligent tracks that are rather too lightweight to be pumped from cars... Yet Kail might represent the rare intersection of those two Venn diagram circles... His combination of street cred and disarming wit has already seen him compared to Nas, Ice Cube and early Jay-Z.'
Good on 'em.
